As Elizabeth sees the guilt in Jack's eyes, she starts to laugh to try to make him feel better. Jack looks at her and starts to laugh too. "Why are you laughing Elizabeth?" Jack asks. Elizabeth sits down in the snow and her laughter gets softer and softer. "Well, I felt bad and you are right; we should have more fun." Jack sits down next to Elizabeth and agrees with her.

Elizabeth lies down and starts to make snow angels and Jack does the same. The snow starts to fall again and Elizabeth is pretty happy. "This is fun isn't it?" Jack agrees and gets up and looks at his snow angel. "Hmmm it needs something." Elizabeth gets up and looks at both of them and sees that they are perfect. She looks at them and she doesn't notice that Jack is making a snowball and aims it at her coat.

"Jack, what was that?" Elizabeth asks. Jack looks at her an makes a snowball and throws it off aim. She laughs and makes a snowball and tries to throws it toward Jack and hits him on the left leg. "Do you want to have a snowball fight?" Jack asks making snowballs. Elizabeth runs ten feet and makes her own snowballs. "It's on."

Elizabeth throws the first snowball and it lands in Jack's hair. "Wow Elizabeth, that was good." He has a mischievous smirk on his face and he throws the next snowball near Elizabeth but it lands in front of her. She giggles and throws the next snow ball and it hits Jack on the shoulder. "Nice aim Elizabeth!" Jack says. "You seem tired from the long run here. Lets take a break."

Elizabeth looks at him as he walks and finds a perfect spot to sit and rest. "Jack this isn't like you. Their must be something wrong." Elizabeth thinks to herself. She walks over to him and they both sit next to each other and talk. The talking doesn't last very long as it usually does. She looks over and sees that Jack's head is down and his eyes are closed but it is hard to see with his brown bangs covering his eyes.

"Jack? Jack?" Elizabeth whispers shaking him gently. He opens his eyes slowly and looks over at Elizabeth. "Oh I'm sorry Elizabeth. I must have fallen asleep." Jack says with a soft yawn. "It's ok, you are probably just very tired and did not get enough sleep last night."

Both decide to look at the winter scenery in the distance. "It's beautiful. I like how the sun shines through the trees." Elizabeth says. Jack looks behind him and sees the moon shining in the distance. "Elizabeth, it's almost dark out so we should start heading back to the cottage." Elizabeth looks at him and sees something is wrong. Jack looks like he is getting sick.

"Jack are you ok, you don't look very well." Elizabeth says concerned. Jack coughs and lies  in the snow. Elizabeth takes Jack's temperature and he is flushed. He has a very bad fever. Jack coughs louder and Elizabeth doesn't know what to do. Then she thinks "maybe I can use the sled and pull him home and mother can help me."

She grabs the sled and puts Jack on his own sled. He moans and coughs in pain. "Jack I know this hurts but, I'm trying to help you. Here take my coat to keep you warm you need it more than me." Elizabeth pulls him home on the sled and it is below freezing outside and it is windy.

The trip was long and tiring. Every few minutes Elizabeth checked on Jack to make sure he was ok. She checked on him before they got to the cottage. Elizabeth is in pain also put she can push through it. She bends down and tried to talk to Jack and make sure he has everything he needs. He fell asleep. She took his temperature and he was still flushed. "Oh Jack, I hope you feel better."

In the cottage, mother is knitting and looks out the window and sees Elizabeth in the cold without a coat with Jack lying on a sled.  Mother drops everything and runs towards them. "Elizabeth are you ok?" Mother says worried and trying to help. "Yes I'm fine just cold." Elizabeth replies. "Jack is also very sick"

Mother goes over to Jack and carries him into the cottage. He is limp so he was hard to carry. "Elizabeth, do you mind if you take the sleds inside?" Elizabeth takes them into the back room and puts them away.
