As Elizabeth steps outside, Jack is nowhere to be found. Not around the pond or sitting on the ground. She notices foot steps in the snow that had to be Jack's. As she followed them, she hears a soft crying in the distance.
"Jack? Is that you?" Elizabeth asks.
Jack takes notice of her and runs. He is gone in a heartbeat. As soon as Elizabeth notices, she runs after him.
"Jack! We need to talk!" Elizabeth said in a loud voice so Jack could hear.
As Jack continues to run, he ends up in an open area with a few trees in the middle. He does not want Elizabeth to see him like this so, he decides to climb the tree until he gets almost to the top. Then puts his head in his lap and starts to cry.
"Jack we need to talk. Please come down." Elizabeth asks nicely seeing Jack is upset.
Jack decides to come down after a few minutes. His eyes are very red and filled with tears. He also is very tired from all of the running.
"Oh Jack you look bad. Would you like to talk about it?" Elizabeth asks.
"Yes that would be nice." Jack says wiping away tears.
As Jack tells his story, from the beginning, Elizabeth feels upset. They continue to talk for an hour and Jack decides to go back home because it is getting dark.
"Would you like to go back home Elizabeth?" Jack asks.
"Yes that would be...nice." Elizabeth says with a yawn.
"You sound tired. Allow me to carry you back." Jack says.
"Ok." Elizabeth says getting into Jack's arms.
Jack carried her over his shoulder. They started talking as they made their way back to the cottage.
"Jack I'm...sorry." Elizabeth said with her eyes half open.
"Me too." He says.
As Jack turns his head to check on Elizabeth, she fell asleep. He slows down his walking just a little bit so he doesn't wake her up. He starts to get exhausted from all of the walking and weight. Where they are now, he needs to travel 300 more feet to get to the cottage.
"Just a few more feet." Jack tells himself.
Elizabeth's eyes open a little bit while she stirs and mumbles something that Jack cannot understand. Jack chuckles and continues to carry her.
"Ugh you're starting to hurt my shoulder." Jack says to the sleeping Elizabeth.
He lies her gently in the snow while he stretches for a minute. After he stretches, he sees that Elizabeth is shivering in her sleep. He picks her up gently and puts her back on his shoulder.
"Ahhh much better." Jack said.
The cottage door is ten feet away from Jack. As he opens the door, mother yells something in French.
"Ummmm hello mother." Jack says confused.
"Oh my goodness! Jack I'm so sorry I thought you were your father." Mother says shocked.
"It's ok. Where do you want me to put Elizabeth?" Jack asks.
"In her bed" mother says.
As Jack takes Elizabeth to her room, He trips on something that almost makes him drop Elizabeth. It was her diary so he picked it up and took it with him. As he opened the door, her side of the room was different. Mainly more posters on the wall and a rug. Jack set her gently on her bed and covered her up putting the diary on her nightstand.
"Goodnight Elizabeth." Jack said as he kissed her.
Jack exited the room and went to talk to mother.
